Cardano's market capitalization has increased 42% since September 16, with ADA trading activity showing signs of renewed interest from both large holders and retail participants. The price of ADA has climbed from approximately $0.19 to $0.27 during this period.
Whale Transactions and Social Interest Spike
On-chain data reveals 413 whale transactions exceeding $100,000 in a single day, marking the highest count since June 4. Social dominance for ADA reached 1.16% during the rally, the highest level recorded in 2026.
According to Santiment Intelligence, the surge in attention coincided with several network developments. RealFi launched on Cardano mainnet on October 1, while anticipation around Leios, Fireblocks support, and new institutional integrations drew significant discussion.
Open Interest Shows Fresh Positioning
Contrary to claims that the rally reflects a short squeeze, open interest data demonstrates new leverage entering the market. Between October 3 and October 5, ADA rose approximately 10% while open interest climbed about 25% to $304 million—its highest daily close since at least early April.
Funding rates, which reached their most negative level of the past month on October 2, subsequently turned positive. Santiment attributed this shift partly to short covering, though the concurrent growth in open interest indicates new market positioning rather than liquidation-driven movement.
Technical Levels and Price Targets
Analyst Giannis Andreou identified key price levels based on Cardano's historical trading ranges. At $0.2644, ADA is testing the $0.20 to $0.28 band following a bounce from a potential local base. Weekly price structure continues to show lower highs, a technical pattern suggesting caution.
Andreou noted that reclaiming the $0.32 to $0.40 range and holding a retest would strengthen recovery prospects. The next resistance levels to monitor are $0.426 and the $0.55 to $0.65 supply zone. On the downside, a weekly close below $0.20 would bring $0.14 to $0.18 into focus.
