Celestia [TIA] bounced back from a $0.52 low to reach an 11-month high of $0.71 as the broader crypto market recovered. At the time of writing, TIA was trading around $0.68, representing a 28% daily gain with trading volume surging 160% to $162 million.
Market Dynamics Drive the Rally
The altcoin's daily turnover increased from $32 million to $63 million, signaling higher buying pressure. A significant portion of this upward momentum stemmed from short liquidations, with $1.4 million worth of shorts flushed from the market. When shorts are liquidated, they typically create additional buying pressure and can trigger further liquidations.
Open Interest in TIA surged 45% to $142 million, backed by a 110% volume jump reflecting substantial capital inflows. On the derivatives side, Binance Perpetuals showed buying momentum, with Buy Volume reaching 90 million compared to 89 million in Sell Volume over the past 24 hours.
Potential Headwinds From Profit-Taking
Despite the bullish derivatives activity, spot market indicators showed aggressive selling pressure. On October 16th, Celestia's Spot Netflow climbed to a record high of $2.2 million, indicating that more tokens were deposited into exchanges than withdrawn. Higher exchange inflows historically increase selling pressure and can weaken market structure.
Technical Outlook
Momentum indicators suggested sustained bullish pressure at the time of reporting. The positive directional indicator (ADX +DI) rose to 31 while the negative index (-DI) fell to 7, reflecting strong upward momentum. The Aroon Up line also reached 100%, validating the bullish trend.
If current momentum persists, Celestia could target $0.80, a level where the trend collapsed in November. However, if profit-taking intensifies, the altcoin could retest $0.50.
