Centrifuge Opens Tokenized Fund Infrastructure to Institutions Across Multiple Blockchains

Centrifuge has opened its production tokenization infrastructure to institutions, enabling asset managers to tokenize funds on live, audited infrastructure spanning multiple blockchains without requiring custom engineering for each network.

The launch centers on Centrifuge's V3 series of updates, which introduced a programmable vault stack and hub-and-spoke multichain architecture. A single control layer handles accounting, pricing, and permissions, while investors can access funds from whichever supported blockchain they prefer.

How It Works

The architecture currently supports operations on 13 chains. Asset managers can manage a single fund distributed across multiple networks rather than rebuilding their fund for each blockchain they wish to reach.

The platform uses two token standards to govern fund operations: ERC-4626 and ERC-7540. These standards define how tokenized vaults accept deposits, process redemptions, and report balances. ERC-7540 specifically covers asynchronous redemption flows, accommodating the delayed settlement typical of traditional fund operations.

Current Adoption

As of Q3 2026, Centrifuge reported $3.5 billion in cumulative tokenized assets under management and approximately $1 billion in total value locked. The platform counts 45 tokenized assets issued within its ecosystem and has settled more than 11,900 cross-chain transactions since inception.

Notable institutional participants include New York Life Investment Management, which tokenized its US High Yield Corporate Bond Strategy on Centrifuge in June 2026 and has since expanded to other chains including Solana and Avalanche. Janus Henderson manages Treasury and AAA collateralized loan obligation funds through the platform, while Apollo and Anemoy operate the ACRDX fund covering Treasuries, structured credit, and high-yield corporate debt.

Partnerships and Development

The V3 updates, which rolled out in stages from V3.1 through V3.3, added onchain accounting options, onchain mandates, and investment vault standards built for institutional needs. The series also included a governance restructure for CFG, Centrifuge's protocol token.

Coinbase is listed as a preferred infrastructure partner and holds a stake in CFG. Ethana has allocated $250 million for investments tied to the platform.

Implications for Asset Managers

For asset managers, the unified infrastructure reduces friction in launching tokenized funds. Removing the requirement for custom builds on each chain lowers the cost and time needed to experiment with tokenization. A centralized control layer also allows managers to expand distribution without proportionally increasing back-office operational complexity.
