Chainlink announced the availability of official US economic data feeds across ten public blockchains, beginning in August 2025. The data comes from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis, which publishes key economic reports for the United States.
The service makes three primary economic measures available to blockchain applications: real GDP, the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, and real final sales to private domestic purchasers. GDP tracks the size and growth of the economy, the PCE index measures changes in consumer prices, and private domestic sales provide insights into demand from households and businesses.
Each measure is available in two forms—one showing the latest reported level and another showing quarterly changes—creating six data feeds in total. The supported blockchains are Arbitrum, Avalanche, Base, Botanix, Ethereum, Linea, Mantle, Optimism, Sonic, and ZKsync.
Chainlink's role is to deliver these government figures in a format that blockchain-based applications can read and process automatically, while the Bureau of Economic Analysis continues to produce and publish the original data.
Potential applications
Possible uses for the data feeds include prediction markets where participants can forecast GDP growth or inflation, with settlements occurring when new government figures are released. Developers could also create financial products with terms that adjust based on inflation or economic growth changes. Lending platforms might utilize the information to adjust their risk management controls.
However, these remain theoretical applications rather than confirmed deployments. The actual impact will depend on whether developers choose to build applications using the feeds.
