Circle has introduced Circle Match, a new service that pairs institutional USDC mint and redemption orders through hourly auctions. Announced on October 22, the service allows eligible institutional Circle Mint customers to participate in matched orders where redeemers and minters are paired together.
Under the auction mechanism, institutions cashing out of USDC fund rebates for institutions minting it. Matched orders clear at a uniform fee set during each auction. The full clearing fee amount goes to matched minters as spendable USDC in their standard Mint wallets, with Circle retaining no separate spread on matched volume.
Redeemers can specify a maximum fee they will accept, while mint-side customers set a minimum rebate. The clearing fee cannot exceed either the customer's stated maximum or Circle's Express redemption service rate. Clearing below the Express rate may reduce the auction fee compared to that route, though a lower fee is not guaranteed.
Participation requires prefunding on both sides. Redeemers deposit USDC, while mint-side customers wire dollars into a separate Match balance. The service is open to eligible institutional customers, though approval and availability vary by jurisdiction.
Circle states that matched redemptions settle as quickly as Express, though dollar payouts remain subject to U.S. banking hours under the terms of its non-EEA Mint agreement. Unmatched amounts follow customer-selected settings for fallback, rollover, or cancellation. Matching and fee savings are not guaranteed.
