Circle has signed a principal partnership with Chelsea Football Club that will place USDC branding on the front of the club's men's, women's, and academy shirts starting with the 2026/27 season. The partnership will debut at Chelsea's first Premier League home match of the season against Brighton.
The deal represents a shift in how stablecoins are being marketed to mainstream audiences. Rather than targeting crypto traders, Circle is positioning USDC as infrastructure for global payments and cross-border finance. Circle co-founder and CEO Jeremy Allaire said the partnership connects the company with a global sports community built on a borderless vision.
Circle Chief Commercial Officer Kash Razzaghi stated that the sponsorship demonstrates what global finance could look like as an open, borderless system. Chelsea President Jason Gannon said the partnership places the club at the forefront of football's digital evolution.
The sponsorship reflects a broader trend in crypto marketing, where stablecoin issuers are increasingly occupying the sports sponsorship space previously dominated by exchanges and token platforms. This shift aligns with stablecoins moving beyond trading assets toward regulated digital money for mainstream payments and business use.
Circle has been expanding the infrastructure around USDC, including the Circle Payments Network for global money movement and Arc, described as an enterprise-grade blockchain for financial applications.
