Clearpool has rolled out a redesigned decentralized application with a dedicated swap tool enabling CPOOL token holders to convert their holdings into a new token called CLEAR at a 1:1 ratio. The tool became available on October 5, 2026, at clearpool.finance/swap, three days after the protocol's community approved a broader strategic initiative.
Governance Vote and Token Economics
The migration follows a Snapshot governance vote held on October 2, 2026, in which 97.16% of participants approved both the expansion to the XRP Ledger and the token migration.
CLEAR will launch with a total supply of 1.125 billion tokens, an increase from the 1 billion CPOOL tokens in circulation previously. Of the new supply, 70% is designated for existing CPOOL holders through the 1:1 conversion mechanism.
Clearpool is implementing a new value-return mechanism, directing 50% of protocol fees toward purchasing CLEAR tokens on the open market and burning them.
Strategic Shift to XRP Ledger
The token migration represents the visible component of a larger strategic pivot. Clearpool is transitioning toward institutional lending products built on the XRP Ledger, with loans to be settled in RLUSD, Ripple's stablecoin.
The initiative involves partnerships with Ripple, Cicada Partners, and Hex Trust, which is providing custody services. Clearpool originally launched on Ethereum in 2021 and has originated nearly $1 billion in loans to date.
Key Considerations for Stakeholders
The 1:1 swap preserves the token count for existing holders, though the increase in total supply means each token represents a proportionally smaller share of the total. Full implementation is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2026, with comprehensive details expected to be disclosed later.
Stakeholders should monitor the allocation of the remaining 30% of CLEAR supply, the timeline for the XRPL lending launch, and participation rates in the migration process itself.
