CME Group to Launch Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap Futures on October 19

CME Group plans to add Bitcoin Cash and Uniswap futures to its regulated cryptocurrency products lineup. The exchange announced the contracts will launch on October 19, subject to regulatory review.

Both contracts will be offered in two sizes: standard and micro versions. Bitcoin Cash futures will represent 250 BCH per standard contract and 25 BCH per micro contract. Uniswap futures will cover 10,000 UNI for standard contracts and 1,000 UNI for micro contracts.

At the time of the announcement, Bitcoin Cash traded at $338 per coin with a market capitalization of approximately $6 billion. Uniswap's token was trading at $9.28 with a market cap of $5.75 billion.

Background on the Tokens

Bitcoin Cash is a cryptocurrency that split from Bitcoin in 2017, featuring a larger block size designed to support cheaper payments. Uniswap operates the largest decentralized exchange in cryptocurrency, with its token used for governance to allow holders to vote on protocol upgrades.

Expanding CME's Crypto Offerings

The new contracts represent CME's tenth and eleventh single-asset crypto futures products. CME previously launched futures for Cardano, Chainlink, and Stellar in February, followed by Avalanche and Sui futures in May. The exchange's existing cryptocurrency lineup also includes Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, and Solana futures.

CME reported that its 2026 altcoin futures contracts have generated more than $1 billion in total notional value during the year. Across all crypto products in the first half of 2026, futures and options averaged 279,800 contracts daily, representing $8.3 billion in daily notional volume.

Giovanni Vicioso, CME's global head of cryptocurrency products, stated that market participants require regulated tools to manage price risk as cryptocurrency markets mature, noting the contracts provide capital efficiency and exposure to key crypto networks in a regulated, around-the-clock venue.
