ICBA Files Lawsuit Against the OCC
The Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA) has filed a lawsuit against the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) for issuing national trust bank charters to cryptocurrency firms. The ICBA, representing community banks with under $10 billion in assets, contends that the OCC has exceeded its regulatory authority and asks the court to require crypto firms seeking federal bank charters to meet the same standards as community banks.
Previously, the ICBA also lobbied against the CLARITY Act, arguing it could trigger deposit flight from community banks. Several crypto firms, including Ripple, Coinbase, and Circle, have secured bank charters. Circle received a national trust bank charter in July, and Coinbase obtained its charter in April 2026.
CRCL Stock Outlook
Circle (NYSE: CRCL) stock has seen downward movement, dropping below the 61.8% Fibonacci support level at $86. Technical indicators show the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) reading at -0.21, indicating higher selling pressure than buying pressure.
If the downtrend persists, CRCL could decline toward the 38.2% Fibonacci level of $75. Conversely, the Average Directional Index (ADX) line is moving downward, suggesting the current downtrend is weak, which could allow the stock to establish support around $80.
COIN Stock Outlook
Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN) shares dropped 3.32% on October 2 to close at $183, falling below its 50-week Exponential Moving Average (EMA) support level of $198. This movement points to short-term momentum favoring bearish pressure, with potential for a continued slide toward the psychological support level of $180.
On the other hand, a recovery could lead COIN to retest the 50-week EMA as resistance or support, potentially targeting the 100-week EMA of $211. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) indicator presents a mixed outlook, with the MACD line pointing north and staying above the signal line despite remaining negative, indicating that bearish momentum may be moderating.
