Cryptocurrency-related equities experienced notable upward momentum following a gathering of digital asset industry leaders with President Donald Trump at the White House. During the Wednesday trading session, Bitcoin's price increased 6.4% to reach $68,681.
Strategy, a major institutional Bitcoin holder, saw its shares climb 12.7% to close at $104.25, marking its strongest closing price since June 22. Coinbase Global finished the day up 9.6% at $160.20, reaching an intraday peak of $165.74 and ranking as the sixth strongest performer within the S&P 500 index for the session. Circle’s stock advanced nearly 10% and Bullish climbed approximately 8%.
Market experts attributed the market movements to capital rotation away from artificial intelligence stocks and renewed confidence surrounding the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act. Speaking at the SALT conference in Wyoming, Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott expressed confidence that the legislation will pass, with the Senate setting September 15 for a procedural vote on the measure.
Patrick Witt, executive director of the White House’s Council of Advisors for Digital Assets, noted that negotiations are nearing resolution on a grand bargain. Unresolved matters include regulations for crypto rewards programs, decentralized finance protocols, and ethics provisions. The Clarity Act aims to establish comprehensive federal guidelines for digital asset exchange operations, such as those of Coinbase and Bullish.
Despite the recent gains, Strategy remains down 31.4% and Coinbase remains down 29% from their year-to-date starting points, though both have posted positive returns for the month.
