Coinbase has set a deadline of October 30 for retail customers in the European Economic Area (EEA) to withdraw 14 stablecoins that the exchange no longer supports. Any tokens left behind after that date will be automatically converted to USDC.
Affected Tokens
The list includes major stablecoins such as Tether’s USDT, PayPal’s PYUSD, DAI, PAXG, and WLFi’s USD1. The remaining tokens are PAX, GUSD, GYEN, BUST, UST, RAI, MUSD, USDS, and TGBP.
Buying, selling, and converting these tokens on Coinbase is already disabled for all affected retail users. The only option for users who wish to keep their tokens is to send them to a supported external wallet before the deadline.
MiCA Transitional Period Ends
The deadline follows the end of the MiCA transitional period for stablecoin issuers on July 1, 2026, which was not extended. As a result, Coinbase can no longer support stablecoins whose issuers are not MiCA-authorised.
Other platforms have taken similar steps. Revolut also dropped USDT for European users after the July deadline.
Recent Regulatory Action
The deadline comes shortly after the Central Bank of Ireland fined Coinbase Ireland €3.25 million. The account meant to hold customer money separately had fallen short every day for about 18 months, with the deficit reaching as much as €5.2 million at one point. Funds from 30 large clients had also been mixed with Coinbase Inc.’s own cash.
Two different entities are involved: the Irish arm handled e-money, while the MiCA license was registered with Coinbase Luxembourg.
