Coinbase announced on October 28, 2026, that it is integrating Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin across its retail app, Coinbase Exchange and Coinbase Prime, giving the dollar-pegged token direct access to the exchange’s retail and institutional customers.

What Coinbase is rolling out

The integration covers three parts of Coinbase’s business. Retail users can access RLUSD in the main app, trading firms can use it through Coinbase Exchange, and large institutions can access it via Coinbase Prime, the company’s institutional platform.

Users will be able to convert US dollars into RLUSD on a 1:1 basis. The same one-for-one conversion applies when swapping from other USD stablecoins that Coinbase supports.

Deposits and withdrawals will work across several blockchains. RLUSD can move on the XRP Ledger, Ethereum and Base, the Ethereum Layer-2 network. Ripple will also provide liquidity on Base.

Jack McDonald, Ripple’s Senior Vice President of Stablecoins, described the listing as a credibility milestone for the token.

“It’s a really credentializing moment for RLUSD to be embraced across the platform,” McDonald said.

RLUSD’s growth so far

RLUSD has grown steadily since its December 2024 debut. Its market capitalization sits at roughly $2.4 billion to $2.5 billion as of late October 2026, according to CoinGecko.

Ripple has also been widening RLUSD’s footprint across chains. Support for Ethereum Layer-2 networks such as Base adds to the token’s reach among institutions and developers operating on those networks.

A broader stablecoin lineup

For Coinbase, RLUSD joins a stablecoin lineup that extends beyond USDC to include PayPal’s PYUSD and Open USD. Open USD is a collaborative effort involving Visa, Mastercard and Coinbase.

The addition places RLUSD alongside multiple dollar tokens on Coinbase, giving users another option among supported stablecoins.

The most immediate effect is access. A Coinbase listing gives RLUSD a direct route into major US trading venues. For Ripple, availability on Coinbase Prime puts the token in front of institutional clients using the platform.
