CoinGecko's API is now live on AirnodeHub, API3's marketplace designed to allow AI agents to access data without human intermediation. The integration was announced by API3 on October 20, 2026, with CoinGecko confirming the listing two days later on October 22.
AirnodeHub launched in early access on October 5, 2026, with approximately 36 data services covering market data, FX rates, news, and weather updates. The platform uses standardized, machine-readable descriptions of each service through OpenAPI specifications paired with x-airnode metadata, allowing agents to discover and understand available data sources automatically.
Through the CoinGecko listing, AI agents can query prices, market caps, and on-chain wallet balances. Each response includes a cryptographic signature verifying the data's origin. This approach aligns with API3's focus on first-party oracles, where data providers serve information directly rather than through intermediaries that could introduce errors or manipulation.
API3 plans to transition service providers onto their own Airnodes, software that enables data providers to serve APIs directly. Under this model, providers would retain the majority of revenue generated by their services.
Currently, calls on AirnodeHub are free during the early access period. Pricing details and the timeline for providers migrating to individual Nodes remain undetermined. The platform's growth will depend on whether additional data providers find sufficient value in listing their services.
