CoreWeave Stock Dips Despite Expanded Hudson River Trading Agreement

Shares of CoreWeave (CRWV) declined 1.74% to close at $89.29 on Thursday following the announcement of an expanded multiyear AI computing agreement with Hudson River Trading (HRT). Although the stock traded above $92.50 earlier in the session, it retreated by the end of the day.

The expanded partnership grants HRT extensive access to advanced Nvidia hardware, including Vera Rubin NVL72 configurations and HGX B200 platforms. Additionally, CoreWeave will provide dedicated Spectrum-X Ethernet connectivity and engineering support to help HRT develop and validate sophisticated trading algorithms.

Expanding Financial Sector Footprint

The collaboration builds on an initial relationship established in March and strengthens CoreWeave's presence in quantitative finance. HRT joins other financial sector clients on CoreWeave's platform, including Flow Traders, IMC, and Jane Street, which previously committed $6 billion for data center infrastructure alongside a $1 billion equity investment.

Securing major financial clients is part of CoreWeave's broader strategy to diversify its revenue sources and reduce historical reliance on a small number of major technology accounts, such as Microsoft. CoreWeave previously reported that its top customer accounted for 36% of revenues in the second quarter, down from 71% in the prior year.

Infrastructure and Market Context

To support growing client requirements, CoreWeave has secured significant debt financing and reached roughly 3.7 gigawatts of committed power infrastructure by the end of the second quarter. The company also implemented pricing increases of approximately 25% in July, with newly negotiated contracts potentially yielding higher contribution margins.

Despite the strategic addition of the HRT agreement and access to next-generation Nvidia systems, Thursday's share price movement indicates that the announcement did not generate immediate positive momentum for the stock.
