The Cosmos Hub blockchain has recovered from a network outage, but Ledger Wallet users remain unable to access their ATOM tokens through the company's application.
QuickNode reported that Cosmos Mainnet stalled at block 32,878,318 on September 8 at 18:12 UTC. The infrastructure provider's nodes returned to the chain tip by 14:26 UTC on September 9, and QuickNode marked its incident resolved on September 12.
Despite the network's recovery, Ledger's status page continued to list Cosmos as a major outage on September 13. Users remain unable to view ATOM balances, transaction history, or submit transactions through Ledger Wallet. Ledger opened the incident on September 8 and last updated its status on September 10, stating that restoration work was continuing and affected features remained unavailable. The company has not disclosed a cause or estimated restoration time.
The two issues represent separate problems. While Cosmos Hub resumed producing blocks, Ledger Wallet's service path for retrieving account data and sending transactions has not recovered. A wallet interface can remain unavailable even after network nodes have caught up.
Alternative Access Options
Ledger has provided guidance for users who need to move ATOM urgently. The company recommends using third-party wallet interfaces that support hardware wallet connections, specifically listing Cosmostation and Keplr as compatible options.
To use Keplr with a Ledger device, users can open the Cosmos app on their device and select Keplr's hardware-wallet connection option. This approach allows users to access their blockchain account while keeping the Ledger device in the transaction flow.
Ledger emphasizes an important security distinction: connecting a hardware wallet differs from importing its recovery phrase. The company's security guidance states that users should never enter their recovery phrase into a computer or smartphone, and should never share it.
