Fairshake, a political action committee funded largely by cryptocurrency companies Coinbase and Ripple Labs, plans to spend $30 million opposing Democrat Sherrod Brown's bid to return to the US Senate, according to reporting confirmed by the organization.
Fairshake spokesperson Geoff Vetter confirmed to Cointelegraph that the PAC intends to spend $30 million opposing Brown's 2026 election bid to represent Ohio. Vetter indicated the PAC expected to announce additional expenditures before midterm elections on November 3.
The spending represents a continued focus on Brown. In the 2024 election cycle, Fairshake spent approximately $41 million supporting Republican Bernie Moreno and opposing Brown's reelection. Brown, who chaired the Senate Banking Committee when Democrats held the majority, lost to Moreno by about four points in 2024 following more than $300 million in spending by Fairshake and other PACs combined.
Fairshake is one of several cryptocurrency industry-aligned PACs seeking to influence key races heading into 2026, when control of the House and Senate will be contested. As of early reports, prediction market platforms gave Democrats favorable odds on retaking majorities in both chambers.
Vetter declined to comment on the PAC's specific strategy for the upcoming midterms but stated in August that Fairshake had a $122 million war chest ahead of the election.
