Protect Progress, an affiliate of the political action committee Fairshake, spent just over $189,000 on media to support Representative Jake Auchincloss in his reelection bid for Massachusetts’ 4th congressional district ahead of the state's primary.
According to Federal Election Commission records, the funding was part of Fairshake's broader efforts surrounding the 2026 elections. Democratic challenger Jason Poulos criticized the media spending, alleging that some of the funds were used to create mailers supporting Auchincloss and called on the lawmaker to publicly renounce the PAC's efforts.
Poulos also claimed that Auchincloss has accepted $77,500 directly from crypto-industry sources since 2020, pointing to the representative's vote in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in July 2025. The market structure bill has not yet been signed into law and awaits consideration in the Senate.
The spending in Massachusetts follows earlier August expenditures by Fairshake and its affiliates, which totaled about $3.6 million across House and Senate races in Alaska, Florida, and Wyoming. Fairshake previously reported having $122 million in cash on hand ahead of the midterms.
Massachusetts is among the final US states to hold primaries, with the general election following in November. Primaries for New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Delaware are also scheduled for September.
