A Crypto.com user faced an account lockout with funds trapped inside after receiving a successful login notification that was followed by authorization errors. The user, who had used the exchange normally for several years, could not access the platform and was met with conflicting statements from customer support.
After the incident began on August 13, customer support offered inconsistent explanations for the status of the account. One support specialist stated that the exchange account was "rejected," while a second representative claimed that no exchange account existed under the user's specific email address. Subsequent inquiries resulted in automated responses indicating the case was escalated and still in progress with no specific timeframe for resolution.
When questioned about the situation, Crypto.com did not comment on individual accounts, pointing instead to strict regulatory protocols and legal obligations that require monitoring and review of customer activity. The company stated that restrictions may be placed on accounts while reviews are ongoing, though it did not confirm whether the user's account was subject to such a review.
Following media inquiries, the exchange asked the user for an external wallet address to transfer the funds, but the assets remained inaccessible as support continued to direct the user to wait.
