Largest weekly inflow in nearly a year
Crypto funds attracted $3.2 billion in inflows during the final week of August 2026, marking the largest single-week figure since October 2025, according to data reported by The Kobeissi Letter.
Over the broader period, total crypto fund inflows averaged approximately $1.3 billion per week across four consecutive weeks, representing the strongest four-week pace in roughly ten months.
BlackRock's IBIT drives Bitcoin ETF inflows
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) led the Bitcoin ETF segment with $928 million in inflows during the reporting week. Combined with $1.3 billion captured the prior week, IBIT drew more than $2.2 billion in just two weeks.
U.S. Bitcoin ETFs as a group saw a brief interruption to their inflow streak, ending nine consecutive sessions of net inflows with $202 million in outflows. The sector still managed to close the week with $925 million in net inflows, with IBIT alone accounting for $938 million over the same period.
Altcoin ETFs extend inflow streaks
While Bitcoin ETFs dominated on absolute dollar volume, the week also saw continued momentum across altcoin-linked products. Ethereum ETFs recorded $824 million in weekly inflows and added another $102 million on August 28, extending their consecutive inflow streak to ten sessions.
Solana, XRP, Hyperliquid, and Dogecoin ETFs also maintained their respective inflow streaks, attracting fresh capital from investors.
Demand rotates rather than reverses
The combined data points to a rotation in investor positioning rather than a broad withdrawal from crypto exposure. Bitcoin ETFs continue to attract the largest share of inflows in dollar terms, but altcoin products are capturing an increasing proportion of weekly activity.
Scott Melker, known publicly as The Wolf of All Streets, characterized the shift in terms of demand rotation, noting that buying interest moved across asset classes without reversing.
The rotation comes ahead of September, a month that has historically produced weaker returns for crypto markets, raising questions about whether investors are repositioning ahead of seasonal pressure.
