Cryptocurrency markets experienced a major surge, adding over $200 billion in total market capitalization in less than 24 hours. The broader market revival pushed the total crypto market cap to $2.470 trillion, driven by strong upward momentum across both Bitcoin and major altcoins.
Bitcoin Rallies Beyond $70,000
Just under a week after bears pushed the largest digital asset down to $62,500 on Friday, Bitcoin initiated a rapid upward movement. Following a period of sideways trading around $63,000 and a gradual climb to $64,000 and $65,000 earlier in the week, the asset surged by more than $6,000 within hours.
The rally carried Bitcoin to a two-month peak above $70,000 for the first time since mid-June. Following a brief dip to $68,000, bulls drove the price back to well over $70,000. Bitcoin's market capitalization expanded by over $100 billion in a single day to reach $1.410 trillion, maintaining a market dominance of 57%.
Altcoins Turn Green Led by ETH and HYPE
The positive momentum extended across the altcoin sector, with nearly all major tokens posting gains. Ethereum led the larger caps with a surge of over 17%, reaching a multi-month peak of $2,270. HYPE also recorded significant growth, jumping 24% to $72 following comments from Trump.
Additional altcoins, including SOL, DOGE, RAIN, ZEC, LINK, and BNB, also traded in the green. XRP successfully defended the $1.00 support level, while only a few exceptions, such as XMR and WLFI, bucked the broader market trend.
