Crypto Skeptic Rashida Tlaib Holds Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs

U.S. Representative Rashida Tlaib holds up to $30,000 in iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF positions alongside up to $15,000 in a Grayscale Ethereum staking fund, according to her latest financial disclosure. The Michigan Democrat's annual disclosure, filed on August 11, 2026, covers the year 2025.

Because lawmakers disclose their assets in broad ranges, the three positions represent a combined crypto exposure between $3,003 and $45,000. The filing indicates that the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (IBIT) is held across two separate accounts—a Schwab Rollover Traditional IRA and a Schwab Roth Contributory IRA—with each holding a position valued between $1,001 and $15,000. Her Schwab Roth Contributory IRA also holds the Grayscale Ethereum Staking Mini ETF within the same value range. The disclosures show no directly held cryptocurrencies, with all exposure coming exclusively through exchange-traded funds purchased on April 28 and May 29, 2025, coinciding with employer retirement plan rollovers.

The asset holdings contrast with Tlaib's legislative record and public stance on digital assets. In July 2025, she voted against the pro-crypto CLARITY Act when the House passed the legislation by a 294-134 vote to establish a market structure framework for digital assets. The Senate is scheduled to take up the bill in September.

Additionally, Tlaib co-sponsored the Ban Crypto Corruption Resolution led by Representative Ro Khanna in October 2025. The resolution calls for politicians and their immediate families to avoid issuing, sponsoring, or endorsing digital assets, while also urging the use of blind trusts for digital asset holdings. Her legislative skepticism toward the sector dates back to 2020, when she introduced the STABLE Act, which aimed to make stablecoin issuance illegal unless conducted by an insured depository institution and a Federal Reserve System member. That bill ultimately died in committee.
