The wallet linked to the recent Cysic bridge exploit transferred approximately $744,000 in cryptocurrency to the privacy mixer Tornado Cash on Friday. According to data from blockchain security firm PeckShield, the address moved 300 Ether and 30.4 BNB to the mixer.
The movement of funds follows a security incident on Saturday, in which an attacker exploited a bridge vulnerability to mint 10 million Cysic tokens on the BNB Smart Chain. In response, the Cysic Foundation suspended the bridge and blacklisted the recipient address, successfully freezing roughly 2.8 million of the newly minted tokens. The foundation confirmed that its mainnet and existing assets located in user wallets remained unaffected by the exploit.
On the Thursday following the attack, the Cysic Foundation offered the hacker a 10% recovery bounty in exchange for returning 275.872 Ether, valued at approximately $665,000, which represented about 90% of the identified Ether proceeds.
Tornado Cash pools deposits across multiple addresses to obscure transaction histories, making the transferred funds more difficult to trace. Following the transfers, the attacker's Ethereum wallet held only $45 in Ether at press time, according to Arkham data. Cointelegraph reached out to the Cysic Foundation for comments regarding ongoing fund recovery efforts but did not receive a response prior to publication.
