Binance founder Changpeng Zhao responded Monday to a compilation of Peter Schiff's Bitcoin predictions spanning 13 years. The supercut, shared on social media, stitches together clips from Schiff's television and podcast appearances in which he repeatedly forecasts Bitcoin will fail.
"He will be right one day… after he changes his mind," CZ wrote in response to the video.
A Decade of Bearish Calls
Throughout the compilation, Schiff characterizes Bitcoin as "tulip mania 2.0," a "pure Ponzi," and "digital fool's gold." He predicts the asset will reach zero multiple times across the clips, which span prices from roughly $355 in 2013 to over $111,000 in 2025.
Schiff also warns that Bitcoin exchange-traded funds represent major crashes and predicts BTC would collapse if MicroStrategy sold its holdings.
The final segment of the video shifts the tone. At Bitcoin's price near $81,800, Schiff expresses confusion about what sustains the asset's value. "I don't know what's holding Bitcoin up," he says, stating it "should be a lot lower than that."
Diverging Philosophies
CZ has taken the opposing position in debates over hard assets and scarcity. In September, he suggested Bitcoin could surpass gold in market value during the next market cycle.
Schiff, a long-standing advocate for precious metals, has maintained his stance. He recently described a decline in gold prices as a buying opportunity and has argued that most stocks are in a bear market.
The exchange reflects a broader philosophical divide among investors focused on scarcity and store-of-value assets. After 13 years of clash predictions, neither the Bitcoin nor gold camps shows signs of reconciliation.
