Quantum-resistant Layer-1 blockchain project DAC has emphasized the growing need for post-quantum security as Italy prepares to inaugurate its first quantum supercomputer and industrial quantum annealer, Volta B1, at the Digital Innovation Forum 2026.
The inauguration represents a significant milestone for Italy's quantum computing ambitions, with Volta B1 positioned as one of Europe's most advanced quantum infrastructures. The project was developed under the technical and scientific supervision of Q-Alliance.
Davide Costa, Head of Innovation at DAC, participated in the forum's panel on frontier technologies alongside representatives from academia, research, and technology institutions. The panel discussion focused on computing technology advances and the infrastructure required to support future innovation, highlighting how blockchain networks must prepare for future quantum capabilities that could threaten traditional cryptographic mechanisms.
“The inauguration of Italy’s first Quantum Supercomputer and industrial quantum annealer marks a major milestone in quantum technology. While these advances unlock new possibilities, they also reinforce the need to prepare for future threats to the cryptographic systems securing blockchain networks. At DAC, we’re addressing this challenge by embedding quantum resistance into blockchain infrastructure from the outset,” Costa stated.
Developed by DAC Labs, DAC is an EVM-compatible Layer-1 blockchain that incorporates Proof of Quantum Work (PoQW) and quantum entropy. The network is designed to provide long-term cryptographic resilience, predictable transaction costs for businesses, and support for smart contracts and decentralized applications.
