David Schwartz Faces Questions Over XRP Price Reply

David Schwartz, Ripple’s former chief technology officer, faced criticism from XRP holders after sharing a price update on X on November 4. The reply came after a post about network traffic.

Schwartz reported more than 550 active hub connections, round-trip response times near 200 milliseconds, and roughly 110,000 incoming messages per second.

XRP price update sparks criticism

When user J (@thefitappa) requested a price update, Schwartz answered, “Sure. It’s around $1.308 or so, up 2.4% in the past 24 hours.”

The figure described one day of trading, rather than XRP’s longer performance. Several users objected to the focus on a daily gain amid wider losses.

Dzioobek (@RafalDziuba88) called the reply disrespectful. Henry Spect (@HenrySpect) suggested Ripple executives were mocking holders, reflecting his opinion.

Holders cite longer-term losses

Another commenter, Hugh Jaynis (@TheRealWillWest), said XRP had lost roughly 40% over the prior year. That was his stated comparison, not a figure supplied by Schwartz.

He also said he had bought XRP in 2017 for slightly more than $2. His criticism centered on the gap between his purchase price and the latest quote.

Crypto Alan (@crytpoalan) said the answer might once have seemed funny but no longer did. Other commenters asked why network changes had not produced stronger market prices.

Network growth enters the debate

Separately, XRP Ledger stablecoin supply exceeded $1 billion in the third quarter, as reported by Blockonomi. That report said greater ledger activity does not automatically mean more XRP purchases.

Schwartz’s original figures concerned his own hub, not the entire XRP Ledger. He made no claim that connections would lift prices.

Network activity and token prices measure different things. XRP pays ledger fees, but the size of those fees does not establish future demand.

Meanwhile, XRP exchange outflows reached 13.24 million tokens early November 5. Large holders also added about 60 million XRP over a week, according to cited data.

Some holders keep buying

Jason Barritt (@JasonBarritt) said he buys XRP with each paycheck and intends to hold while the Internet of Value develops. He expected investors might wait another two or three years.

Barritt said he preferred buying near $1.30 to waiting until $5. His outlook differed from users who questioned whether continued network development justified their patience.

People can still accumulate for cheap. Put in your head that you have 2- 3 years for a real price jump. I buy every paycheck what I can and forget about it. I’m glad it’s still low until the IoV is ready to go. I don’t think I would be purchasing more if it was $5+. In 2030…

An earlier report tracked XRP price support at $1.23 as reserves fell across three exchanges. That data predated Schwartz’s reply.

Schwartz gave no longer-term price target in his response to the user’s question. The discussion centered on whether a daily increase addressed holders’ concerns about XRP’s performance over several years.
