Dogecoin fell 2.6% over the past day and declined 6.5% for the week, underperforming broader market movements. The memecoin sector contracted 8.4% in total market capitalization during the same period, with both Bitcoin and Ethereum outpacing gains.
The cryptocurrency has lost 15% so far in October amid subdued exchange-traded fund flows, creating a challenging environment for potential recovery.
Technical Pressure Mounting
On the daily chart, Dogecoin's price structure showed mixed signals. The cryptocurrency retreated to the $0.08 level after failing to close above the August high of $0.1008. Decline/advance metrics and capital money flows indicated selling pressure over the preceding two weeks, suggesting a trading range between $0.08 and $0.10 may form rather than a bullish trend resuming.
On-Chain Data Points to Key Support
According to crypto analyst Ali Martinez, Dogecoin's UTXO Realized Price Distribution data revealed approximately 36 billion DOGE tokens traded near the $0.081 level. This concentration represents a significant demand zone on-chain.
Complementary data showed whale purchases of 600 million DOGE since October 12, with cost basis distribution heatmaps also identifying $0.081 as a critical support level to monitor.
Potential Paths Forward
If the $0.081 support holds, a bullish rebound could target the $0.108 to $0.121 range. Further upside would face resistance in the $0.16 to $0.17 areas, which analysts identified as potential long-term supply zones where profit-taking could limit gains.
The $0.081 level remains pivotal both as an on-chain cluster and as a local support zone for the near term.
