The memecoin sector is showing signs of recovery after weeks of capital outflows. Dogecoin has gained over 10% in recent trading, coinciding with approximately $1 billion in fresh capital flowing back into memecoins during the last week of October.
The sector had experienced significant headwinds throughout October, with the total memecoin market cap declining from $37 billion in late September to just over $26 billion. Dogecoin itself corrected more than 18% over the same period, as investors reduced exposure during the broader crypto market downturn that saw over $300 billion in net outflows.
On-Chain Signals Point to Potential Upside
Several technical indicators suggest renewed speculative interest. Dogecoin's 24-hour long/short ratio has returned to bullish territory after trading bearishly for approximately a week. The cryptocurrency has consolidated around $0.08 after breaking below that level, where it had held for over six weeks.
Structurally, a breakout from Dogecoin's current trading range could trigger a short squeeze that potentially sends the price toward the $0.10 resistance level—a level the asset has not reclaimed since breaking below it in mid-May.
Broader Market Context
The shift in momentum extends beyond Dogecoin alone. The DOGE/BTC ratio has increased over 2% this week, recording its first positive week in over a month. This movement coincides with Bitcoin dominance facing resistance around 60% and Bitcoin trading below $80,000, suggesting potential rotation away from Bitcoin toward higher-risk altcoins.
Whether the current momentum sustains into November will depend on whether capital continues flowing into the sector or whether this recovery represents only a temporary rebound.
