Singapore-based digital payments company dtcpay has completed a $25 million Series A funding round, adding Japan's SBI Group to its shareholder base as it expands stablecoin payment infrastructure.
Vertex Ventures led the initial financing, while SBI Group joined as a strategic investor to complete the round.
Stablecoin Infrastructure for Merchants
dtcpay operates payment infrastructure enabling merchants and businesses to move between fiat and digital assets. The company holds a Major Payment Institution license in Singapore, providing it with a regulated foundation in a key Asian financial hub.
The company builds merchant-facing layers around stablecoin infrastructure rather than operating as a speculative crypto exchange. Dollar-denominated stablecoins can move across blockchain rails while maintaining economic characteristics similar to cash, making them attractive for cross-border settlement without requiring businesses to hold volatile assets.
Strategic Value Beyond Capital
SBI Group's participation extends beyond funding. The Japanese financial group maintains significant operations across banking, securities, and digital assets, offering a network that can prove valuable for a payments business expanding across Asia.
dtcpay plans to use the funding to develop merchant-payment and cross-border settlement services further. The company indicates that stablecoin adoption may increasingly be driven by payment companies integrating blockchain settlement into familiar financial products, with users potentially unaware of the underlying chain infrastructure.
