Ethereum developers have postponed the Glamsterdam upgrade that had been planned for the Hoodi testnet on October 26, with no revised activation date set, according to an October 22 post from the Ethereum Foundation.
The notice says developers want more investigation into how EIP-8037 interacts with mainnet smart contracts. It removes the previously configured Amsterdam execution-layer and Gloas consensus-layer activation on Hoodi.
Gas limit increase also canceled
The postponement also cancels a linked plan to raise the Hoodi gas limit to 200 million at the same testnet epoch. Hoodi operators are told to follow updated execution- and consensus-client releases. The foundation says the notice does not require action from Ethereum mainnet users.
What the delay does and does not mean
The cancellation applies to a future Hoodi activation, not a reversal of past blocks. The notice did not establish an Ethereum mainnet date or a replacement Hoodi epoch.
Testnets are used to examine interactions that may not appear in isolated simulations. A delay can disrupt development schedules, but proceeding with unresolved compatibility questions could create larger problems. The development concerns testnet release coordination rather than a live mainnet rollback.
