Fidelity Drives $310M Inflow as Bitcoin ETFs Recover From Week of Volatility

U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds drew $433 million of net inflows on Friday, September 18, extending a market rebound to a second consecutive day, according to data from Farside Investors.

Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund supplied $310.7 million of those inflows, nearly 2.9 times the $108.4 million added by BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust. Bitwise's BITB, ARK 21Shares' ARKB, and VanEck's HODL also posted smaller positive flows.

Weekly Performance

The two-day rebound only partially offset earlier losses. Investors withdrew $746.3 million on Tuesday and Wednesday, while Thursday and Friday combined generated $592.5 million of inflows, leaving a $153.8 million gap against the midweek withdrawals.

For the full five-session week, Bitcoin ETFs finished with $6.1 million in net inflows. Monday's $159.9 million inflow was instrumental in pushing the weekly total barely above zero.

Issuer Split

Despite Friday's leadership from Fidelity, BlackRock's IBIT remained the largest net beneficiary over the full week, accumulating $120.6 million compared with $79.9 million for FBTC.

Friday's session marked a shift from Monday's rebound, which was led by BlackRock with Fidelity in a secondary role. The broader participation across multiple funds on Friday suggests the rebound was no longer dependent on a single issuer, though a single session does not establish lasting changes in capital allocation patterns.

Context

The midweek withdrawals occurred on September 15 and 16, the day before and day of the Federal Reserve's decision to raise its target rate range by 25 basis points to 3.75% to 4.00%. While the timing provides context, available data does not establish that the policy decision caused the outflows or subsequent rebound.
