Fomo Co-founder Rules Out Token Launch Platform, Citing Market Saturation

Fomo will not enter the token factory business, according to co-founder Se Yong Park. On October 25, 2026, Park denied two specific rumors: that Fomo would launch its own token platform on Solana and that it intended to compete directly with Pump.fun, Solana's leading memecoin launchpad.

Park stated that Fomo's core mission is helping trading communities grow, not creating new coins. His reasoning centered on market saturation, citing the abundance of tokens already in existence.

Fomo's Business Model

Fomo, which launched in May 2025, was founded by former members of the dYdX team. The app raised $75 million in a Series B round in June 2026, valuing the company at approximately $550 million.

The platform operates primarily on a fee-based revenue model, charging approximately 0.5% on spot trades. Its core features include copy trading, which allows users to mirror other traders' moves, and real-time feeds displaying live trading activity. Notably, Fomo has no native token.

The app operates primarily on Solana but plans to expand to other platforms.

Competition with Pump.fun

Pump.fun launched in January 2024 and became Solana's dominant memecoin launchpad by simplifying token creation. Both Fomo and Pump.fun introduced cross-chain bridges in October 2026 to extend their reach beyond a single blockchain.

While Pump.fun has historically led in 30-day revenue periods, Fomo has posted strong individual trading days, indicating the competition for Solana market share remains competitive.

Strategic Implications

Park's decision to avoid token issuance reflects two distinct business models: Pump.fun built its business on token creation, while Fomo is focusing on trading experience and community. By staying out of token issuance, Fomo maintains operational neutrality and avoids the potential conflict of profiting from both launches and subsequent trading activity.

Fomo's $550 million valuation rests on the premise that traders prioritize a better trading platform over additional tokens to trade. The company's revenue trajectory will ultimately serve as the key indicator of this strategy's viability.
