Partnership Aims to Expand Prediction Markets
Cryptocurrency exchange Gemini and Apex Fintech Solutions have signed a non-binding letter of intent to make Gemini Titan the exclusive regulated venue for crypto event contracts. These contracts would be offered by brokerage firms through Apex’s Futures Commission Merchant (FCM).
Under the proposed arrangement, participating brokerages will utilize Gemini for execution and clearing. This agreement provides Gemini with a new distribution channel for its prediction-market operations.
Infrastructure and Regulatory Background
Apex provides trading and clearing infrastructure to hundreds of financial firms that serve tens of millions of investors. Gemini has been developing its regulated prediction-market business following approval by the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission to operate a designated contract market in December 2025 and to clear derivatives in-house in April.
The two companies already collaborate on stock trading operations. Apex Clearing currently provides custody and clearing services for Gemini’s zero-commission US equities offering, which launched in July.
Broader Legal Context
The proposed partnership is developing while prediction markets encounter various legal challenges at the US state level. Most recently, a Washington state judge ordered Kalshi to halt operations offering a broad range of event contracts within the state, having rejected the company's argument that federal commodities law preempts state gambling law.
