Grass, a decentralized physical infrastructure network running on Solana, launched its Contents API on October 8, 2026. The tool converts public webpages into data that AI models can process, marking a strategic pivot for the network.
The Contents API accepts a public URL and returns clean, model-ready output in HTML, Markdown, or plain text. The network routes requests through its residential internet connections, allowing it to access information that conventional data infrastructure often cannot retrieve. Websites that block data-center traffic are more likely to treat requests from home connections as ordinary visitor traffic.
According to Grass, the Contents API achieved a 98% retrieval success rate on hard-domain tests, compared to 71% for its closest competitor on complex queries.
Strategic Shift in Focus
On September 28, 2026, CEO Andrej Radonjic announced a roadmap redirecting Grass from batch training-data sales toward live context retrieval for AI applications. Training data is used to train models before deployment, while inference-time data is retrieved while a model answers questions or completes tasks. As AI agents take on more real-world applications, access to current information becomes increasingly important.
One day after the roadmap announcement, Multicoin Capital expanded its position in Grass, investing from both its hedge fund and venture fund.
Financial Performance
Grass reported $17 million in revenue for 2025 and matched that figure in the first half of 2026. For the full year 2026, the network projects training-data revenue of $65–75 million, not including revenue from the Contents API.
The GRASS token, the network's native asset on Solana, roughly doubled in price following the Contents API launch and the Multicoin investment news.
