Crypto ETF issuer Grayscale has launched the first spot Zcash ETF, expanding its suite of cryptocurrency investment products. The fund has officially begun trading on the NYSE Arca under the ticker symbol ZCSH, providing institutional investors with direct spot exposure to the privacy coin.
The launch follows an 8-K filing submitted to the SEC by Grayscale. The asset manager already offers a range of other cryptocurrency investment funds, including products tied to Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, Hyperliquid, Chainlink, Dogecoin, and Sui.
According to Grayscale Chairman Barry Silbert, the firm intends to allocate 100% of the Zcash ETF's management fee during its first year toward marketing, education, and awareness in support of Zcash and the ZCSH fund. The listing arrives nine years after Grayscale originally launched its Zcash trust.
The introduction of the ETF coincides with rising demand for privacy-focused cryptocurrencies. The privacy narrative has gained momentum, receiving endorsements from notable industry figures such as Cameron Winklevoss, who is backing the ZEC treasury firm Cypherpunk.
Concurrently, the price of ZEC has rallied to new highs, reaching a yearly peak of $850 as Bitcoin surpassed $80,000 amid renewed market optimism. The privacy coin is up over 60% year-to-date, recovering from earlier in the year when prices fell below $300 due to concerns surrounding a code error in the Orchard shielded pool. The Zcash team subsequently addressed the issue by deploying the Ironwood upgrade, which retired the Orchard pool and introduced a redesigned shielded pool with enhanced security provisions.
