The Solana meme coin CYBERLEEK experienced a sharp decline, falling by nearly 60% after the account behind the campaign published footage of the game's prologue. The drop leaves the token trading at $0.006819, which is 71.30% below its all-time high of $0.03436 reached on August 23, according to CoinGecko data.
CYBERLEEK launched on August 15 following a domain registration on August 14. The token gained traction as gameplay clips began circulating on August 18, featuring driving, flying, nightclubs, stores, radio stations, and map details from Leonida. The videos included watermarked QR codes directing buyers toward the coin, and holders used CYBERLEEK transfers to vote on upcoming footage releases.
Critics previously raised suspicions about the campaign, accusing it of operating as a pump scheme disguised as consumer protest. During the initial frenzy, the market cap surged from near zero to over $20 million, with short-term gains exceeding 1,400%.
On August 26, the leaker released a roughly five-minute clip from a Lucia-focused prologue section, representing the first major story spoiler to emerge. The release coincided with Rockstar Games breaking its silence on the matter, describing the leaks as heartbreaking and unfortunate while confirming plans for a Netflix Extended Look.
Despite expectations that the story spoiler would act as a catalyst, the release failed to reverse the downward trend. Additional pressure mounted following the takedown of the project's website, contributing to the decline that brought the token's market cap down to $4.99 million.
The token's mechanics have intersected with broader legal and industry pressures, including subpoenas sought by Take-Two against Microsoft, Discord, and X to uncover the source of the leaks. Meanwhile, consumer advocacy groups like Stop Killing Games have distanced themselves from the leak tactic while sharing certain ownership concerns.
