Users on X have raised suspicions regarding a recorded interaction between representatives of GTA VI publisher Rockstar Games and a pseudonymous X user, suggesting the encounter may have been staged to promote a cryptocurrency scam amid ongoing game leaks.
The video appears to show representatives knocking on the door of X user "@LewisBi94895348," who previously used a Reddit account to predict major GTA VI leaks and claim knowledge of the identity behind "CyberLeek," the primary X account leaking gameplay footage. In the footage, an alleged representative questions the user about associates and handles, expressing doubt that a previous August 18 prediction was pure chance.
Skepticism grew after observers noted the Lewis account had promoted a "GTA insider" cryptocurrency before deleting the posts. Furthermore, online users discovered the account holder had previously faced accusations of scamming remote-control plane buyers on Facebook Marketplace, leading to speculation that the confrontation video was fabricated to gain millions of views.
Meanwhile, the CyberLeek account has been using a cryptocurrency named $CYBERLEEK to raise funds for a secret project and as a voting mechanism for future leaks, while demanding payment in Monero for advertising on its site. Gaming advocacy group Stop Killing Games has criticized the leaks for potentially harming community reputations and advocacy efforts.
In connection with ongoing legal measures, a filing by Take-Two’s Chief Legal Officer Daniel P. Emerson indicates that GTA VI will feature a virtual currency system named Sharkbux. The filing notes that Sharkbux will lack public ledgers, secondary trading, or volatile pricing, and will not be treated as a security under the Howey test. However, online users pointed out that the filing was addressed to the SEC's Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit, a division that was disbanded and replaced in 2025. Take-Two has also filed multiple subpoenas demanding user details from Microsoft, X, and Discord regarding the CyberLeek accounts.
