A new report published by Henley & Partners on September 8, 2026, indicates that 290 individuals worldwide hold more than $100 million in cryptocurrency. The findings arrive as the global cryptocurrency market capitalization stands at $2.6 trillion.
According to the Crypto Wealth Report 2026, Bitcoin plays a primary role among the largest holders. Of the 290 individuals in the nine-figure bracket, 151 maintain that wealth exclusively in Bitcoin.
Broader adoption metrics from the report show that an estimated 742 million people globally hold digital assets, with approximately 371 million holding Bitcoin. Globally, there are 135,694 crypto millionaires, of whom 92,272 built their status primarily through Bitcoin holdings. At the highest tier, the report identifies 23 crypto billionaires, with 9 holding Bitcoin as their sole digital asset.
The report incorporates a new on-chain methodology, meaning direct year-over-year comparisons to previous editions are not reliable benchmarks. Bitcoin's market capitalization is recorded at $1.6 trillion, accounting for approximately 60% of the total crypto market. The data also notes that Bitcoin was trading roughly 38% below its October 2025 peak as of the August 31, 2026 snapshot date.
Alongside wealth distribution, Henley & Partners released its Crypto Adoption Index. Singapore secured the top position on the index for the fourth consecutive year, followed by the UAE, Hong Kong, the United States, and Switzerland in the top five. These rankings highlight jurisdictions favored by high-net-worth crypto holders for their regulatory and tax environments, as well as considerations surrounding investment migration and asset portability.
