Crypto exchange HTX has exited the UK following a settlement in the Financial Conduct Authority's enforcement action over financial promotions. The FCA announced the outcome on October 29, confirming the exchange is no longer active in the country.
UK customers can no longer deposit, trade, or open new accounts on the platform. Eligible users holding residual assets must contact customer support to request approval for a one-time, 48-hour withdrawal window. Access to this window depends on compliance with the Personal Remittances General Licence and HTX's identity verification, sanctions screening, anti-money laundering, and fraud checks.
Users approved for withdrawal must personally transfer their assets within the designated period. HTX will not transfer assets on behalf of customers and will close accounts after full withdrawal. The exchange has directed affected users to contact [email protected] from their registered email address.
Court Undertakings Extended to 2031
A High Court order from October 27 records Huobi Global S.A.'s undertakings until October 21, 2031, against knowingly communicating or causing others to communicate financial promotions in breach of the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000. These undertakings cover HTX websites, applications, and social media.
The FCA began proceedings on October 21, 2025, and publicly announced the enforcement action on February 10, 2026, describing it as the regulator's first enforcement action against a crypto firm for illegally marketing products to UK consumers. The FCA also requested that social media companies block HTX accounts for UK users and sought removal of its applications from UK app stores.
The FCA stated that the settlement's terms are confidential and involve no admission of liability or wrongdoing by Huobi Global or anyone else. Either party can request court enforcement of the settlement without filing a new claim.
