Hut 8 posts $189.5M Q3 profit as revenue falls short of estimates

Hut 8 reported third-quarter 2026 revenue of $71.1 million, below consensus expectations of $76-77 million, while net income came in at $189.5 million, powered mostly by a $413.8 million gain on digital assets. The company released results on November 4.

Quarterly results

Revenue fell from $83.5 million in the third quarter of 2025 to $71.1 million this time around. Of the $189.5 million in net income, $131.1 million was attributable to Hut 8 itself. A year earlier, the company reported net income of $50.6 million.

The revenue split shows where the money comes from today. The Compute segment, made up primarily of Bitcoin mining, brought in $68.4 million. Power and Digital Infrastructure together contributed $2.7 million.

For the nine-month period, revenue climbed to $217.0 million, up from $146.6 million in the same stretch of the prior year.

Beacon Point fully commercialized

Hut 8 signed a second 352 MW IT lease at its Beacon Point AI data center campus, this time with a tenant the company describes as high investment grade. That deal completes the commercialization of the Beacon Point campus, with every bit of planned capacity there now having a contracted customer.

Across its AI data center portfolio, Hut 8 puts the aggregate base-term contract value at approximately $26.6 billion.

Capital allocation and financing

Hut 8 sold approximately 954 Bitcoin during the quarter and used Bitcoin sales to fund around $250 million in share repurchases. It then raised its repurchase authorization to $1 billion.

On the financing side, Hut 8 closed a $1.07 billion senior secured revolving credit facility in September 2026.

From miner to power landlord

Hut 8 has spent recent quarters repositioning itself. The new model is an energy infrastructure platform serving both Bitcoin mining and AI or hyperscale data center operations. The company calls its approach power-first, built around long-term leases with creditworthy tenants.

Investor takeaways

The first takeaway is that headline profit and operating performance diverged sharply this quarter. A $413.8 million digital asset gain is a reflection of Bitcoin’s price movement, not of how efficiently Hut 8 runs its sites. On that front, the core business went backward year over year. Compute revenue of $68.4 million still makes up the overwhelming majority of sales.

The second takeaway is the backlog. Approximately $26.6 billion in aggregate base-term contract value across the AI portfolio is the real bull case. Tenant quality matters here too. A high-investment-grade counterparty reduces the risk that a long lease goes unpaid.

The third takeaway is capital allocation. Selling roughly 954 Bitcoin to fund about $250 million in buybacks signals that management sees more value in its shares than in holding that Bitcoin. Raising the authorization to $1 billion suggests it may keep doing so.

Finally, the $1.07 billion revolving credit facility gives Hut 8 room to maneuver. Having a secured credit line in place reduces the pressure to sell Bitcoin or issue equity at inconvenient moments.
