Hyperliquid has activated a new token buyback mechanism that channels yield from Circle's reserves directly into HYPE purchases. The arrangement directs all yield generated by Circle's $6.07 billion treasury to Hyperliquid, creating a recurring demand source for the token.
Based on a 3% interest assumption, this generates approximately $498,580 in daily purchase power. At current token valuation, this translates to roughly 5,684 tokens burned daily, representing a 25% increase relative to the protocol's current average burn rate. The mechanism is designed to scale with the size of Circle's reserves, allowing buyback power to grow as deposits increase.
Buyback Program Moves to Implementation Phase
The buyback initiative has transitioned from proposal to active implementation. Hyperliquid's System Interest Address has confirmed receipt of the first AQAv2 Reserve Payment, confirming actual revenue flowing into the system.
The first transfer generated $14.58 million in USD Coin (USDC), with only $2 currently in the Assistance Fund. An additional $14,580,777.21 in USDC awaits transfer from the reserve account to the assistance fund. Once these funds move, they can be converted into buyback activities, realizing the intended HYPE deflation.
Major Token Holder Moves HYPE to Exchange
A significant token holder transferred 20,950 HYPE, valued at approximately $1.87 million, to Binance. This transfer does not necessarily indicate a sale has occurred. The holder retains 63,550 HYPE valued at approximately $5.62 million, which remains off-exchange.
The holder previously realized over $7.24 million in profit from earlier HYPE sales, according to blockchain tracking data. Future exchange transactions could create sell-side pressure that counteracts demand from Hyperliquid's buyback program, making large token movements increasingly relevant to price direction.
