Hyperliquid Strategies Inc. has expanded its stock buyback authorization to $100 million, up from a previous $30 million cap, the company said as its PURR shares closed higher.
PURR stock gained 1.15% to $8.78, adding $0.10 after recovering from intraday lows near $8.60. Shares rose another 0.23% to $8.80 after hours following the update to the company's capital plans.
Board Lifts Repurchase Capacity
The board's decision raises the maximum authorization by $70 million over the prior limit and more than triples the program's original capacity for share purchases. The authorization gives management permission to repurchase shares but does not require immediate purchases.
Hyperliquid Strategies focuses on digital asset treasury operations within the Hyperliquid ecosystem. The company said the buyback expansion adds flexibility to its existing approach to share management and its broader treasury strategy.
Deadline Extended to 2027
The board extended the program's end date from December 5, 2026, to October 31, 2027. Approximately $72 million remains available under the expanded authorization.
The company may buy PURR shares on public markets at prevailing prices. Management may also arrange private transactions or use other methods allowed under federal securities law, depending on market circumstances, transaction terms and applicable requirements.
Hyperliquid Strategies linked the decision to its long-term capital strategy and treasury framework. The increased limit allows management to evaluate purchases alongside other company capital needs. The company did not establish a fixed share count or transaction calendar.
What the Repurchase Plan Allows
Share repurchases allow businesses to acquire their own stock, potentially changing the number of outstanding shares. The effect depends on whether and how companies complete those transactions over time. An authorization alone creates no immediate change to outstanding shares.
Management will consider PURR's trading price, general economic conditions and relevant legal restrictions. Those factors will shape the timing, size and total value of any future repurchases. The remaining allocation does not indicate an immediate cash commitment.
The company retains authority to extend, pause or end the program without advance notice. The final amount spent may therefore differ from the authorized maximum at expiration.
