Injective announced that its institutional services arm has registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a transfer agent. The network described the registration as the first of its kind for a Layer 1 blockchain, adding a regulated compliance layer to its real-world asset tokenization efforts.
Regulated Infrastructure for Onchain Securities
Transfer agents are responsible for maintaining official ownership records of securities and supporting administrative functions such as transfers, distributions, and shareholder management. Injective stated that this registration will enable these processes to utilize distributed-ledger infrastructure while maintaining compatibility with U.S. securities regulations.
In a post on X, the project stated that the registration serves as the regulated recordkeeping layer required by American markets, bringing a complete technical stack for onchain capital markets.
Expanding Into Multiple Asset Classes and Enterprise Finance
The regulatory milestone builds upon Injective's existing push into real-world assets. The network currently supports markets tied to digital-asset treasury companies, public equities, and shares in private companies, including OpenAI and SpaceX. It also operates Injective Mint Alpha, a platform designed for issuing tokenized assets.
In addition to capital markets, Injective has expanded into enterprise finance. In July, South Korean trading company POSCO International and LG Group technology arm LG CNS selected Injective for a live trade-finance pilot. The project is structured to issue, transfer, administer, and settle international trade receivables.
Next Steps for Institutional Adoption
By securing transfer agent status, Injective has integrated formal legal recordkeeping into its infrastructure, addressing institutional demands for compliant ownership records and corporate-action support alongside fast settlement.
With issuance, settlement, and recordkeeping components now in place following its regulatory push, Injective's next major test will be whether large asset managers, banks, and issuers adopt the infrastructure at scale.
