Jupiter, a decentralized finance platform on Solana, has integrated its Gacha trading card product directly into its mobile application, enabling users to purchase and open packs of graded physical trading cards without switching between apps.
The mobile app has accumulated 1.68 million downloads across iOS and Android platforms and maintains 240,000 monthly active users. Over the past 30 days, the app processed $575 million in trading volume and generated $770,000 in fees.
How the System Works
Users purchase digital card packs within the app, which are opened through smart contracts that use verifiable on-chain randomness to determine outcomes. Each resulting non-fungible token (NFT) represents a 1-to-1 physical trading card, such as graded Pokémon or One Piece cards, held in secure storage.
Third-party partners manage the physical asset pipeline, handling professional grading, authentication, and vault storage before a corresponding token is minted. When users elect to redeem a physical card, the associated NFT is burned and the shipment process begins. Cards are insured during transit, and users can file claims for the insured value if a shipment is lost.
Expanding Beyond DeFi
The integration represents Jupiter's expansion beyond its core cryptocurrency services. The company initially built its platform around cryptocurrency swaps before expanding into perpetual contracts and lending protocols. The company stated that consolidating diverse consumer on-chain experiences into a single mobile interface is part of its broader strategy.
