JUST, a DeFi infrastructure protocol on TRON, has unveiled an upgraded JST Buyback and Burn program that diversifies funding sources and establishes new capital management frameworks for its native governance token.
The revised mechanism introduces three primary funding sources: JustLend, USDD, and GasFree. Previously, buyback funding came primarily from JustLend and USDD revenue streams. The upgrade incorporates GasFree, a gasless transaction solution built on TRON, as a significant revenue contributor.
Key Program Changes
The upgraded framework establishes a $50 million treasury reserve as a safety floor for ecosystem operations and risk management. All protocol funds exceeding this reserve are dedicated to JST buybacks and burns.
An initial $20.34 million in surplus capital has been unlocked from cumulative GasFree earnings and treasury reserves above the safety floor. These funds will be deployed across four buyback rounds beginning in Q4 2026.
The protocol is adopting a "continuous buyback, periodic burn" approach, with all transactions executed on-chain through JUST DAO and fully verifiable to the community.
GasFree as Growth Driver
GasFree enables users to pay transaction fees directly with the tokens they transfer, removing the need to hold TRX for network fees. The service currently supports gasless transfers for USDT and USDD.
As of October 23, GasFree has processed over $157.1 billion in cumulative stablecoin transfer volume across more than 9.14 million transactions. The platform serves more than 500,000 unique addresses and has generated approximately $12.03 million in cumulative revenue through Q3 2026.
In late September, GasFree partnered with Binance Web3 Wallet to offer TRC-20 USDT gas fee delegation, expanding its market reach.
Ecosystem Metrics
JUST commands approximately $12.2 billion in Total Value Locked across its product lines. JustLend, the protocol's lending platform, surpassed $7.13 billion in TVL as of October 23, with its supply-borrow market accounting for approximately $3.71 billion. Total TRX staked through JustLend has exceeded 9.83 billion.
The upgrade consolidates governance under JUST DAO, which now oversees all three product verticals and unifies JST's value capture across the entire ecosystem rather than tying it to a single revenue stream.
