TRON founder Justin Sun has initiated legal proceedings against Chinese actress Jing Tian and her parents to recover roughly $4.5 million. The lawsuit comes after the couple's relationship ended in late February, according to filings and statements from Sun.
Sun and Jing Tian met in Hong Kong and dated through late 2025. Sun proposed in January on a Maldives island and subsequently transferred 30 million yuan to accounts held by Jing Tian's parents.
By late February, the couple had relocated to California. While Jing Tian was staying at a resort in Laguna Beach ahead of an egg retrieval procedure related to a surrogacy plan, she requested $50 million from Sun, according to his account. Sun states he consulted an AI system before declining the request, after which Jing Tian departed.
Sun published a personal essay on X describing the dispute, which garnered over 33 million views within a day. In the essay, he questioned whether providing the requested funds would have preserved the relationship. He later told Hong Kong media outlet The Standard that he remains uncertain about whether the AI's judgment or his own decision was correct.
Jing Tian, 38, responded through Weibo without directly addressing Sun's claims. "I will never sell my love for money," she wrote, stating that she believes legal proceedings will establish the truth. Her studio indicated the matter should be resolved through the courts.
Binance founder Changpeng Zhao commented on the dispute, distinguishing between marketing promotion and personal reputational damage. Zhao suggested that while aggressive marketing is acceptable, publicly damaging another person's reputation crosses a line.
