Prediction market platform Kalshi has experienced explosive growth in US web traffic over the past year, recording 15.4 million visits in July compared to just under 1 million in August 2025—a roughly 1,520% increase, according to Similarweb traffic estimates.
US traffic now accounts for nearly 80% of Kalshi's total traffic, up from 72.8% a year earlier. The platform's expansion comes as it faces mounting legal challenges over whether its sports contracts fall under federal oversight or state gambling laws, with New Jersey pursuing the dispute to the US Supreme Court.
Trading Volume Outpaces Traffic Growth
Kalshi's trading activity has grown even faster than its web traffic. The platform recorded approximately $40 billion in monthly notional trading volume in August 2026, up from $874 million a year earlier—an increase of roughly 4,500%.
Across the broader prediction-market industry, monthly notional volume rose to $50.7 billion from about $2 billion over the same period, with Kalshi accounting for nearly 79% of the latest total. Sports contracts represented 83% of Kalshi's trading volume in July.
Growing Traffic From Restricted Jurisdictions
Kalshi has also seen significant traffic increases from jurisdictions where its member agreement currently prohibits direct platform access. Canada generated approximately 450,000 visits in July, up from roughly 50,000 in August 2025, while UK traffic increased to 296,000 from 31,000.
Kalshi partnered with Canadian financial services company Wealthsimple in June to provide access to nearly 4,000 eligible Kalshi contracts through a separate app. Despite the increases in absolute visits from both countries, their share of total traffic declined—Canada's portion slipped to 2.3% from 3.8%, and the UK's fell to 1.5% from 2.4%.
