Kinetiq Closes kPoints Program as KNTQ Token Declines Over 20%

Kinetiq has closed its kPoints rewards program, allowing points holders to claim the right to purchase KNTQ tokens at a fixed price of $0.26 each. The timing arrives as KNTQ has declined more than 20% from its all-time high of approximately $0.448 reached on October 1, 2026.

Program Details and Token Allocation

Over 46 weeks, Kinetiq distributed a total of 36.8 million kPoints, with later phases delivering 800,000 points per week. Rather than a free distribution, participants can now claim the right to purchase KNTQ at $0.26 per token.

The claim window opened on October 1, 2026, and runs for 10 days. The allocation totals 50 million KNTQ tokens, representing 5% of the token's maximum supply of 1 billion. If fully claimed, the sale could generate approximately $13 million in gross proceeds.

Tokens purchased through the claim program carry no lockup period or vesting requirement and are usable immediately. Any unclaimed tokens will be returned to the Kinetiq Foundation for ecosystem development.

Price Dynamics and Market Context

When Kinetiq announced the program, KNTQ was trading around $0.40, making the $0.26 claim price appear as a meaningful discount. With KNTQ now near $0.33, the discount remains but has narrowed considerably.

With circulating supply estimated between 280 million and 335 million tokens, the 50 million new tokens represent a substantial block relative to current market volume.

Token Economics and Buyback Program

The conversion coincides with KIP-5, a governance proposal directing revenue-funded KNTQ buybacks to the Hyperliquid Assistance Fund with the stated goal of permanently reducing KNTQ supply. Kinetiq has previously conducted buybacks, acquiring more than 5.39 million KNTQ at an average price of $0.15.

This approach mirrors Hyperliquid's own model, which uses exchange revenue for HYPE token buybacks through its Assistance Fund. Kinetiq applies the same framework to its own token economics.

About Kinetiq

Kinetiq is a liquid staking protocol built on Hyperliquid. Its core product allows users to stake HYPE and receive kHYPE, a liquid token usable throughout DeFi while earning staking rewards. The protocol has expanded to include perpetual futures trading through Markets.xyz and tools for launching new projects.
