Kucoin has launched version 5.0, deploying AI Assistant 5.x with security measures designed to address vulnerabilities in cryptocurrency exchange AI systems. The platform's AI model, known as KIA, incorporates multiple layers of protection against prompt-injection and context-poisoning attacks while including fail-safes to pause recommendations during market stress.
According to Logan Xie, Leader of the Kucoin AI Lab, the system uses strict input classification and execution isolation to prevent adversarial manipulation. KIA classifies inputs by source trust level and applies source verification, context isolation, and sanitization. Critically, the platform decouples AI-driven decision assistance from core backend execution logic to prevent unauthorized trades.
Separation of AI and Execution
Xie emphasized that AI serves to interpret context and assist users, while execution permissions remain separate from context interpretation. Business systems independently authorize, validate, and execute actions to prevent unauthorized operations.
Volatility and Data Freshness Protections
During extreme market conditions such as black-swan events and rapid liquidations, KIA incorporates scenario-aware risk controls that can restrict or suspend AI recommendations when data freshness and system health cannot be verified. The system prioritizes halting AI recommendations over providing potentially misleading guidance based on stale information.
Kucoin 5.0 also introduces additional features including a unified trading account for VIP1+ users consolidating spot, margin, and futures trading, directearn access via sub-accounts, and interface upgrades including profile center 2.0 and a color vision accessibility mode.
BC Wong, CEO of Kucoin, stated that trust should be evident in every user interaction through asset protection and platform reliability. The platform serves over 45 million users across more than 200 countries and regions.
