Lido Activates New Ethereum Validator Module with 32 ETH Operator Bond

Lido activated its 0x02 Community Staking Module on October 23, opening permissionless access to Ethereum validators with larger effective balances. The new route allows independent operators to run validators with effective balances of up to 2,048 ETH.

Operators must bond 32 ETH for the first validator key and 30 ETH for each additional key, while Lido supplies the validator stake separately. The initial capacity targets roughly 32 seed deposits, with larger allocations dependent on activation, cap increases, and protocol inflows.

Capital Efficiency and Rollout Plan

Ethereum's 0x02 compounding withdrawal credentials allow a validator's effective balance to grow above the 32 ETH minimum, up to the 2,048 ETH maximum. Lido estimates a capital multiplier of 2.18 times for a first validator compared to solo staking, approaching 2.26 times as more validators are added, assuming full 2,048 ETH effective balances.

The module launches with a stake-share limit of 0.01% of Lido Core's total value locked. The CSM Committee can propose capacity increases through Easy Track governance. Seed deposits receive priority over top-ups, and validators must activate before becoming eligible for additional funding.

Entry Queue and Existing Options

Ethereum's network-wide validator entry queue showed 1,295,748 ETH waiting to enter as of October 25, with an estimated wait of approximately 22 days and 23 hours. Lido's operator documentation notes that top-ups depend on the module's stake-share limit and deposit demand, and validators may never reach their target balances.

Existing operators can continue using the 0x01 CSM alongside the new module. There is no native consolidation-based migration between versions, leaving both routes available.
