A Louisiana woman has been arrested after police say she used falsified Social Security numbers to collect more than $41,000 in casino jackpots.
Shamika Brown, 43, of Alexandria, collected 16 jackpots at L'Auberge Casino Baton Rouge in 2020 totaling more than $41,000 while attempting to avoid overdue child support owed to the Department of Children and Family Services, according to Louisiana State Police.
Brown also collected nearly $2,500 from another Baton Rouge casino in 2023 using false identifying information, the agency reported.
In October 2024, she attempted to collect a $1,264 jackpot at L'Auberge using additional fake Social Security numbers, prompting an arrest warrant from the 19th Judicial District Court.
On September 21, 2026, a gaming enforcement investigator recognized Brown at the same casino as she attempted to retrieve the pending payout. The investigation had been launched after L'Auberge reported suspected fraud to the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division on October 15, 2024.
During their review of Brown's casino activity, detectives discovered she allegedly used false identifying information in transactions dating back several years.
Troopers arrested her on September 21 on the warrant and booked her into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on 18 counts of bank fraud and identity theft. The investigation is ongoing, and police say additional charges may follow.
